Radu Marian is a Romanian male soprano. He is gifted with a pure soprano voice in the range of C4 to C6 considered to be a great talent of Baroque music. He was born in 1977 to a family of artists in what was then the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic. His exceptional musical talent started at the age of seven when he sang (in French) the aria Der Holle Racht from Mozarts Magic Flute.

Marian completed his singing and piano studies in Moscow and in Bucharest, obtaining the title of "Concert Master," with great merits. He was granted a scholarship by the Moldovian government and received vocal training in Italy with Flavio Colusso.

His repertoire includes arias and cantate written for castrati by Handel, Bononcini, Carissimi. Conductor Colusso states that Radu Marian is a male soprano whose voice is different from countertenors and sopranists. His voice is a natural soprano, not a falsetto's.

Great Radu, wonderful! I'm glad there are lot of recordings by him. Also, I feel bad there aren't that many recordings by Patrick Husson. He's my favorite.
