My Capri X-pack with freshly rebuilt Essex engine in front of garage. Have had a short belt so I used a rubber hammer as an alternator support :)

  • Jesus god what is that whine, a bad water pump? Spoils all the other sounds.

  • water pump was new. This sound comes from steel cam gear. It disappeared during a few days.

  • big bore manifolds and exhaust system, both from Janspeed

  • I had a 90 Holley on a Swaymar manifold on a 3 litre and it was the same way round.

    In the end I ditched it and went back to a 2 barrel Weber, the Holley was too much carb for the motor despite my lumpy cam and big valves. Ran fine at the top end but nothing at the low.

  • I had a few 2 bbl carbs on the standard manifold: Weber 38 DGAS, later 40DFI, later Holley 350, later Holley 500 (best for race, thirsty for the road), later re-jetted Holley 350 and my current setup is the re-jetted 4 bbl Holley 390.

  • like the rear arches. like the mk2's and mk3's but not too keen on the mk1's.
