Beginning Tabla Instruction + Short Solo

OK, so I am not Indian, and I have not played tabla since the age of 4. I am 90% self-taught, and I goof around a lot in non-traditional ways. Here is a short instructional video of some of the basics for tabla to get started. I will make some other videos with more beginner's info soon.

The solo is really just me practicing. But I haven't posted any tabla playing yet, so I thought I would include this.

No, I actually learned from an Indian musician all the basic strikes, and then expanded on what I learned into my own style. I highly recommend a teacher, but I have a friend who learned entirely from books and is great! Check out djimbej on youtube. He is 100% self taught from books!

Awesome!!!! i'm in the process of learning, been to about 8 1/2 hour classes now but my hand still don't want to move independently of each other LOL i'll get there but my tabla that I had at HangOut last year were tourist pap apparently... need to invest in a good set like yours, beautiful crisp sound, sweet playing!
