The Heartland Institute interviews Keith Lockitch, fellow at the Ayn Rand Center, at the Energy & Environment Conference in Phoenix, Feb. 2, 2010. Lockitch was among the very few non-alarmists at the conference, and shared what he dubbed his "heretic views."

  • Where can I find information on how maintaining free markets and removing government interventions and regulations preserves our ability and our resilience against natural disasters and preserving the functioning of the thriving of "our" economy, and keeps us safe from natural disasters? I am very eager to read it. Thankyou.

  • @nashvilleshigh "Safe from natural disasters?" Not sure we can ever be "safe." Hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, wildfires and the like do their thing. Man, like old King Kanute proved to his subjects, cannot command them to retreat. But if you're looking for a place that argues free markets create the kinds of social structures and economic prosperity that weather such storms better than, say, Haiti, heartland (dot) org is a good starting place.

  • Great job Mr. Lockitch. I appreciate your courage in speaking out in front of what sounds like a very unfavorable audience.

  • This institute has been exposed. Moeny for opinion the same way as it denied smoking causes cancer. Check out Climate Change Misconceptions, Part 1 and 2. The cooling is based on 1998 onwards, this video exposes that as cherry picking. 1998 was one of the warming years on record. Try 1900 onwards and see the real story. Check out the ocean temperature and ice thickness data and you will feel sick that an organisation like this can make it a political argument.

  • It's too bad your peers are so close minded, Dr. Lockitch.

  • Nice job, Keith.

  • Excellent interview! You mean this was after climategate and there are still people pushing the lie of AGW? Amazing!
