one of the founders went through the sas selection courses and was so impress with what he saw that he came back and lobbied the military to have a group like what the brit's have. He hand pick his team and started delta which was before was green lite. That's the only connection we have with the brit's but their is no training or even the brit's sending their sas soldiers to train the delta team. Would u believe me if i told u that we already have a counter terrorist team in the green beret?

@stolly27 BTW watch out for these crazy Brits because there full of it and they think they invented war. The US Army and other branches had special forces long before the SAS. During WW2 US OSS had many secret special forces groups and the Brits SAS is nothing special considering most their missions were flops. FYI TheMarkXIV is the biggest flake and troll on the Youtube.

@stolly27 You misunderstand. Of course Delta is not trained by the SAS now. But the original cadre was SAS-trained in the 1970s, to acquire a counter-terror and hostage-rescue skillset the army did not then have, and Delta copied SAS structures and practices exactly, adding their own ideas later. That was the smart way to set the thing up from scratch. Delta still calls its companies 'squadrons', like the SAS, to show where it comes from.

@stolly27 Delta was raised and trained by the British SAS, just as WW2 US Army Ranger battalions were trained by British Commandos. If you don't know that, you don't know anything about US Special Forces at all.
