Kerry King talks about Fernandez Sustainers

As some of you may know from watching some live slayer vids in one of his guitars he has an odd looking ''pickup'' in his neck postion.

this was filmed at music live and the guitar u see leaning up against that marshall is mine and he signed it and played it :O!

but doesn't the fernandez sustainer have two "pickups" to it? because i've seen the kit and it has another peice to it which agitates the string

I'm pretty sure it works on the principle of a humbucker except one of the coils then has electricty passed through it to make a magnetic field.

Don't quote me on that as I may be wrong.

I will find out the correct way of how it works and get back to you.

@dimebagisgod13 it has a driver in the neck that does the work. the bridge pickup is the actual pickup that reads the vibration and makes the signal etc.

@dimebagisgod13 The 401 kit comes with the single coil 'driver' for the neck and a high output humbucker, but you don't have to use the humbucker in the kit as long as your pickup in the bridge is fairly high output, you can get a 101 kit that just has the circuits and a neck humbucker' driver'

when kerry talks about the 81 and 85 when he thinks thats whats in it which did he say was at the bridge he said higher one but he dosent know the number so im assuming he means higher output which is the 85?

Its really only one pickup,the "other" is the string sustainer,almost like an E-bow.
