If I did what the kids did in this ad, I'd have been thrown out on my ear.

Ira..This animated tv plug for Howard Johnson's was first seen on NBC TV's"American Rainbow"minni series of kids tv specials in the 1970's.

Yes! Dan Man that was the voice of the late Bob McAllister of"Wonderama!"and "Kids Are People Too!"kids tv fame doing this Tv promotion of Howard Johnson's restaurants and motor inns and motels.

I love this "everything including the kitchen sink" approach to commercials. Only works with some kind of products though. Luckily, food is among them.

Wasn't that Bob McAllister doing the voiceover? I thought he had done a campaign for HoJo around 1970 when this commercial probably originates.

I miss HJ too. And while I love old commercials, this was one best left forgotten. I HATE kids singing off key. Right now we have a jingle on talk radio, a commercial that endlessly broadcasts: 1-800 Kars for Kids, 1-800 Kars for kids! 1-800 Kars for Kids, Call us today! sung by some goofy kid with a cracking voice. Awful then as now. I also hated almost all the 70s McDonalds commercials!

Being Catholic, every Friday we would go to HJ for their fish fry. I know this sounds incredible but it was all you could eat for .99, yes 99 cents. And it was damn good. Other than that my brother and I had a fav, fried clam strips. To me it is not just a long gone part of Americana it was great food and a place you could always count on for quality. Who else had the Royale Banana Split?
