If you want to trade gold so bad do it? I mean, it's not a video game, it's a board game, just change the freaking rules if you don't like them. I'm not defending this game, I don't even have it.

The reason the reviewers are having an easy time winning as the heroes is because they are treating the overlord role as a GM. The overlord is not a GM, s/he is a player who should also be trying to win. A GM (or at least a good one) is not trying to win, s/he is telling a story. A good overlord player is trying to stomp the heroes into a bloody paste. I've had overlord players in my game group kill the party in the first room (stupid monsters shutting the door in our faces).

@metalpayne3 Oh sure I just don't want to pay like 300 freaking dollars for all the books that a person might want. 100 dollar investment for the 3 core then more for all the stinking other books. lol.

Balance in this game seems totally off. Both in regards to heroes (pretty much any 1/1/1 is horrible compared to a specialist), items and general scaling of difficulty throughout the scenario.

Also, for a rules heavy game, strategic options seem pretty limited; basically blitz forward (to limit threat) and focus fire (to limit damage) and/or do the run-get the treasure - portal out and return once you have the better equipment/weapons. Very simplistic, unless I'm missing something of course.

There are different difficulty settings for the game. It shows on the quest guide as the more dungeons you do the harder it gets. It simply just gives the overlord more cards and more threat and the hero's a little gold but it does add more difficulty.

How is this game easy for the heroes? You need to find a better GM.
