José Cura leads the star cast of Verdi's blazingly passionate opera, in Elijah Moshinsky's new Royal Opera House production co-produced with Teatro Real Madrid, with sets by the noted Italian film designer Dante Ferretti. With Dmitri Hvorostovsky as Count di Luna, Veronica Villarroel as Leonora, and Yvonne Naef as Azucena, the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, is conducted by Carlo Rizzi.

  • this opera is pure awesomeness! that how a real fight should be!

the conductor really brought out the music and put it to the coreography, but its a pity that it sounded a little rushed and out of breath , but overall AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!111

  • Yes... This is Opera - it must have action - In this scene, anyway, the conte is very mad [and desperate], and there IS a fight going on.

I like this - Hvorostovsky is tired but does not sacrifice not even a note.

  • The only "bad" thing about this performance I can think of is that Dmitri Hvorostovsky steals too much thunder LOL. He makes Jose Cura and the other woman sound and look like Random Person A and Random Person B. I agree the fight DOES bring the music to life, opera is NOT JUST about singing, it's about bringing the singing and music to the audience.

    ¡GRANDE VERDI!

  • Dmitri Hvorostovsky canta benissimo, a me Cura invece non mi piace

  • Hvorostovsky amazing!!! i loveeeeeeeeee dmitri!!!! cura not good

  • I'm sorry to say that it doesn't work to make them fight so eagerly. It has to much of an influence on the music and the singing - and isn't that what opera is about?

  • Juera perros!!! a pelearse a otro lado!!! jajaja ...
