No One Is Illegal Anti 2010 Opening Ceremonies Toronto

On August 25th,

Toronto raised the anti-2010 flag as a symbol of our resistance to the SPP, G8 and opposition to Olympics on Stolen Land.

With the closing ceremonies of the Beijing Summer Olympics this Sunday, members of migrants rights, indigenous sovereignty, anti-poverty, labour, student, environmental justice and anti-war
movements are hoisting the Anti-2010 Opening Ceremonies Flag at CBC Headquarters.

Flag bearers are wanted!

In 2010, three events are taking place that will have a devastating impact on indigenous sovereignty, migrant rights, the environment, and social justice. Resistance to the 2010 Olympics, the Security and
Prosperity Partnership (SPP), and the G8 summit have already begun.

The 2010 Winter Olympics, is a very real threat to Native peoples, the urban poor (many of whom are also Native), and the environment, causing destruction and displacing communities. While cutting social services, health care, education, etc., the BC Liberal government is at the same time providing billions of dollars to construction companies & other Olympic-related industries. The capitalists are making millions, while the poor are literally dying in the urban & reservation ghettos.

The SPP is an undemocratic partnership between Canada, the US, and Mexico that aims to make advantageous conditions for transnational
corporations at the expense of working people; expropriate and exploit natural resources and oil; and create Fortress North America borders around Mexico and Canada. The SPP will specifically reduce jobs, target unionized labour and further the exploitation non-status people.

The G8 leadership summit calls for deregulating financial markets to allow for corporations to profit off of the current global financial crisis.The G8 leaders aim to further deepen reliance on a global food trading system that has driven the poorest people off their land and undermined developing countries' ability to feed themselves.

The logic that because Europeans came to the Americas as immigrants starting 500 years ago, present day N. American residents must accept immigration from Latin America is fallacious & absurd.
