i will say the parts of the song where he sang loud and projected his voice were very good, however the softer parts were a bit flat. overall, good cover though.

I disagree; there's more than enough passion behind this version of the song. The singer also hits all the right notes whilist improvising some of his own very creative ones. Final summation: this cover was amazing.
