the people i got him from marked the males with a blue dot and females with a red one

@stephster575 the blue dot was on there pretty good so I just waited till she shed and it came right off. I suppose you might be able to try and gently scrub it off with a tooth brush and water if you really wanted it off. Even soaking didn't get hers off though.

so i recently fond out that the orange one is a female and they now live in the same tank with no problems
