This is a slightly rough job, but i believe it will serve its purpose. The most important thing while laying slabs is to cure it properly. If you have proper hydration, the thing becomes a rock. You can even get bending strength out of bare concrete.

- The mesh is not necessary for small slabs. They are free to move for shrinkage due to plastic sheeting underneath. The mesh maybe required for bending streghth in case of differential settlement. For this it should be placed at 20-25mm depth from top.
- There is nothing wrong with pouring slab on dirt. You only have to increase cover to the steel. There are piles poured against dirt all the time.
- There is no need to vibrate such a thin slab. The aggregates will sink.

@smyjaz fuck off and mind your own business - wasnt talking to you shit for brains (or should i summarise that by saying American) LOL

@sleeaustralind In the first place MORON it was the heat of the aircraft fuel that buckled the steel you fucking AUSSIE! What a fucking moron! Why you have to say all that? He was simply stating that this isn't the proper base for a concrete slab you fucking idiot!

@oreokookie1000 So - what is the phone number of your concrete pouring company ? You must be american - I guess its kinda hard to hear an australian accent with your head so far up your arse. Maybe if they took your advice the twin towers wouldnt have fallen so fucking quickly unfortunately killing several australians

You can't be serious. Pouring a slab on loose dirt??? Wow. I am speechless. I would hate to see how your Absco shed would look like in a year if you listen to these clowns. Crushed stone and a tamper does not cost that much more. Also, if they bent thier fat ass over to pull up on that steel mesh to suspend it in the middle of the slab, it might be able to do it's job of holding the concrete together a bit better.
