This timelapse video was shot between the 9th of April and 19th of September 2011, from AWS1, our lowest weather station (150m) at Virkisjökull.
It is fascinating to see the collapse of the meltwater conduit at the clean ice margin in the centre-right of the image from around 14 seconds onwards.
Also the tremendous variation in surface water drainage, leading in turn to undercutting and slumping of the ice-cored esker across the middle of the image.
