Alafia, while I agree that there is this negative malevolent cosmology in Christianity do we not in Ifa work with the Orishas to prevent bad things from happening or to help us balance - or else? If we do not give ebbo, unpleasant will happen. True? I agree, with you but evil does happen it does exist to innocent people not inviting it in to their lives. The first tenet Buddha says, "Life is painful". Attachment keeps us in Samsara. You should do a comparison of Ifa w/ Eastern philosophy.???

No. Ifa is quite different. There is no "devil", nothing waiting to "get you" or "punish" you. You are confusing results with punishment. look, in the winter if you tell your kid not to go out in the snow and ice without shoes and he does, he will get frostbite. But it will not be because somebody or something is "punishing" him, it will be because of his own behavior...Regarding Buddha...he should have said " life will contain pain...it doesn't need to include needless pain.
