@kn0xville021 no not even close lol. they usually get up to four feet long but in the wild they have grown to 8 feet. In a 55 you can keep him until hes about 14 inches but thats it, otherwise he wont even be able to turn around. you need at least like a 400 gallon for a fully grown one

im not an aquerium guy i oony keep to eat and gar and pike are from different specie pike are esox i dont rember about gar's scientific name but i do know gar are warm water game fish fund primaraly in the south and esox are primaraly cold water fish found from canada to kentucky in good numbers with some pickeral species extentin to south florida gar go from cuda to kentuky in great numbers with small but concentrated populations extending through indiana
