in response to a previous video of overclocking a toothbrush, i thought the idea of taking it apart to solder on a 4 AA battery pack was kind of bulky. so this is an easy improved way of overclocking your toothbrush.

  • This is a great idea! The motor can't burn up because it's only running for about 60 seconds. And if the motor dies after a year or two, you just go back to the dollar store to invest in another one.

  • @gilbet exactly.

  • How much more were the camera batteries than the toothbrush. Also what gave you idea to do this?

And being an Electrical Engineer it will shorten the motor life, how much who knows but it could still be a potential fire hazard.

Are people still over clocking their PC processors or is that old hat now ?

Other wise great job, does it enable you to get out of the bathroom faster ?

  • i did this because i saw a lot of people on youtube doing just this but they were modifying the toothbrush and puting a big bulky battery holder on it and i just wanted to prove that it could be done without modifying a thing. yes i understand that it will shorten the life of the motor. i was just proving how stupid it is to modify the toothbrush because there is no need.

  • @narod85 In PCs, overclocking with an old power supply is dangerous. Yes, gamers are still fanatic about overclocking their PCs, but fortunately they use very strong power supplies, and big cpu coolers with fans.

  • @hrbear no matter how good of cooling you have it will still shorten the life of the chip. its not worth it. if you need more power, just buy a better computer and leave it alone. if you cant buy anything better then you dont need it. but i guess if you want to shorten the like of your machine and risk stability problems go ahead and gain that extra 5 %. at best.

  • do it with a bomb suit on then u have no worry's unless its nuclear powered..

  • @brownaleboy Hmm...I had made some experiments with these DC motors (taken from broken toys) when I was a kid. I used the 9V battery, but this battery did not increase the rpm of the motor. This is because DC motors requires some amperage increasing, and the 9V battery does not produce enough amperage. If you use 1 X 4,5 volts (it has 3 AA x 1, 5 volts), then this offers enough amperage and the motor will increase it's rpm. But with more you may burn the motor.

  • gingivitis is caused by poor dental hygene. also no the motor is rated for 3 volts not 6 but the thing hasnt failed me yet. besides youre not running it for hours, just a few minutes and its not going to ruin it. ity may shorten the life slightly, but who cares its a cheap one and its only a couple bucks.

  • lol.. wow.

well, cool idea.. but why would anyone want to do that? for one its like incredibly loud. second, the motor inside prolly isnt rated for 6v, and may burn out over time. third, brushing too fast (ie. using a 'overclocked' toothbrush. lol) isnt even good for your gums, you can cause gingivitis like that.
