2 main reasons; no camera shake problems and both camera zooms at same setting ... wish there was a more reliable method to achieve that! So around 12 hours of filming and experimenting for 2 minutes of 3D film :)

im still not sure how the video is "3d" even though it is stereographic, the image that converges in the middle still looks flat

Mmm ... not quite sure what you're getting at. The image in the middle should appear to have depth ... some objects appearing much closer to you than others. However, no part of the image will appear to come 'out of the screen' as you might see in an Imax 3D cinema. The effect is identical to that seen in a ViewMaster.

Does that help? In my experience, when someone finally manages to see the 3D effect they get very excited and I KNOW that they can see it :)
