Ashura play in Detroit Jan. 2008

Iraqi-American Shia Muslims gather inside an Islamic center in Detroit for a passion play during Ashura. For 10 days, they meet inside this mosque to recall the battle of Karbalaa. On this night, they reenact the death of the son of Imam Hussain. Such ceremonies have been increasingly popular in metro Detroit.

yosof,,, Shiism is the perversion of Islam. It is the Shiite who despise the Sunni. Shiite are a minority in the Islamic world; therefore the hate brews.

Look at Iran, there is no democracy and they have no rights. Sunnis dont run in public streets beating themselves. These are the images seen around the world. Sunnis dont cry about someone who died hundreds of years ago.

You dont see Christians cry because Jesus died on the cross. They actually rejoice in his death.
