I saw your video on the unboxing of the dell ultrasharp 2408wfp and at the end you posted some negative comments
about it.I was looking to purchase this monitor for myself mainly for gaming and web-browsing.Would you still recommend this monitor? Thx Mohammed

Wow you must of received a really flawed monitor. I've had none of this issues you speak about and my monitor is 2yrs old and is on in my office at least 14 hours a day. Sorry you were given such a Lemmon.

The HP monitors are great! Sharp, not overly saturated or too vibrant (unless you choose it to be) and the prices are great too.

It's not just the VGA, its the combination of VGA and the 1920x1200 resolution as analog signal cannot scale well to that res.

Even so, I do agree with the saturation that this monitor has and web development is very difficult. This monitor has some of the largest lag time I have ever seen. Also it is just shit...

The red borders to the text could be an issue with ClearType if you're using the monitor in a vertical configuration, as you were in your review. ClearType works on a sub-pixel rendering (see wikipedia article) and vertical config isn't currently supported.

I just purchased 2 Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP monitors on eBay a few days ago and I originally used VGA cables to connect the monitors. I notice the same issues with the monitors that 3DGameMan has described. However, after using the DVI cables, there were no more issues w/ the monitors. ONLY BUY THIS MONITOR IF YOU PLAN ON USING DVI OR HDMI (which this monitor supports). DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU PLAN TO USE VGA CABLES (because it has very very bad support for analog)

Question for you, Rodney. Have you ever had a mura affect appear on a display of yours, and if so, if you've any tips for removing them without filing for an RMA? I have dual Samsung 2443BWX and have noticed a slight darkening at the lower right-hand side, was about to complete an RMA, but noticed it's beginning to fade after a few months.
