@cindybin2001 Why is something immoral just because it's "mind-altering"? I always thought that something was immoral only if it hurt people/animals. I guess my mother didn't raise me right.

There are lots of things we shouldn't do, but that doesn't make them immoral. We shouldn't ride a bike without a helmet, we shouldn't drive a car without a seatbelt, we shouldn't go to bed without brushing our teeth, but that doesn't mean those things are immoral.

What's your opinion on gay marriage?

@darkshadowvamp It's actually considered disrespectful to smoke tobacco if you're not doing so for ceremonial or sacred reasons. After being taught this I worked my hardest to quit smoking cigarettes. I haven't smoked marijuana since I was a teenager, but I now view it in a similar light. I can't take it until it's legal, or until I move to a state with a mmj program, because I go to VA doctors. MJ should be respected as a healing plant, and only used as such. Anything else is kinda wasteful.

@darkshadowvamp I'm Native, and I don't smoke marijuana to make up my mind. Marijuana comes from India. There's nothing in my culture about smoking pot. I'm not sure why you're only associating wisdom with Natives. You should look to your own ancestors for answers, and leave mine alone. I'm likely not consulting your ancestors when I need guidance, unless we're somehow related.

I only want to use the plant for medicine. That's how my culture comes into play. That and the studies on pain care.

You know what doesn't work for my CRPS, the worst pain disorder known to human kind? Oxycontin, and other opiates.

Studies show that marijuana is actually LESS mind altering, has LESS side effects, and doesn't lead to addiction in pain survivors compared to available drugs, while being the most efficacious treatment for nerve pain, spasms, and the common loss of appetite and inability to sleep. I hate drugs, but I want medicine that works. We need to legalize medicinal marijuana.

And any lawmaker reading these comments would be even MORE inclined to keep marijuana illegal! Any lawmakers even CONSIDER legalizing marijuana should read YouTube boards, and my channel and my emails! Anyway, you just don't get it. Trying to compare smoking pot to driving without a seatbelt. @IWEEW Yeah, the incompetent buffoons that CAUSED the recession are laughing off the idea that marijuana legalization will help the economy. As I said, they are ignorant of American history and don't know that prohibition helped cause the Great Depression, and the repeal of prohibition helped bring the country out of the Great Depression.

Marijuana is no more of a gateway drug than alcohol or tobacco. 99% of cocaine users also smoke cigarettes and/or get drunk on a regular basis.

@KayBeeEee1983 I have no idea who you are, but people who are likely more educated than you believe that legalizing the substance for medicinal purposes would lead to its casual legalization. I know you think it would help the economy, but again, your hypothesis has been presented thousands of times to politicians who laugh it off. It's very difficult for some to accept, but pot is absolutely a gateway drug, too. You are hundreds of times more likely to try cocaine if you have tried marijuana.
