I found out today it's "Mary's Vineyard" by Claude King.

Maybe you can help me identify the title and singer of another song. This one was definately early '70's. It began, "Old man Oscar Sills lived up in the Tennessee hills, he had him 2 or 3 stills and he made heavy water." The chorus went, "I made love to his sweet Maude and pretty little Caroline, but the grapes in Mary's vineyard were the sweetest on the vine."

l know I heard it on KVET. I was a student at U of Texas 1969-73, thought I heard it then. But I did come back to Austin in Jan 1979, for a visit. I guess I must have heard it during that visit.

Kenny and band member Steve Glassmeyer wrote "Love Or Something Like It" and recorded the song in 1978.
The song was a number one country song in the USA in August 1978.
It was Kenny's 4th Number One song on Billboard Magazine's Country Song charts.
