This is great, I am trying to get into T'ai Chi. I have been getting up the past few days at 5 to do it. I do have one question (right now) about this though: How long do I do this? If I were to do T'ai Chi in the morning, what would I do? Only these? Or all the ones you teach? Thanks!

This was my 1st experience and it was wonderful! Thank you!

Found this very helpful, and very calming. First attempt at Tai-Chi, and even though it took a few tries, it felt so natural when I got it right. My Chakra's are tingling.

This is certainly more related more to taichi. This has nothing to do with Budo.

Aiki is Jap and Taiji is Chinese.Don't know what this is?

@jackclivingston This contradicts several basic principles on the "I" and "Chi" connection. Wu Chien Chuan and Cheng Man Ching used imagination on a different level. After several stages of training, in a Push, for instance, they recommended to imagine an opponent to push, rather than a beam. This will guide Chi in the proper way. Visualization is out of the most taoist principles. Many Chi Kung systems will avoid this. Since this creates tension.

The initial part of the exercise is shown very well here, but the actual "ward off" part needs more illustration. I have started working with an instructor and have found it extremely helpful in grasping the small things involved -- getting it all from videos is difficult. But interesting to see the actual martial arts application here.

I feel the pin/needle thing between my shoulder blades before the chi connects the arms. I think it may be nerves waking up. Going slowly calms the mind and a calm mind allows the form to slow. Another, even more important thing, is keeping a constant speed or tempo. When the mind is free the form's speed will be uniform. Keep reminding yourself to slow down (calm down) to the slow pace you started with. Frustration is an important step in the learning process.

How do you direct chi/ki from the hands and eyes. How do you also collect it in the belly? According to tai chi?

A classic principle is that chi extension is first in the mind and only then does it reach the physical body, so to extend chi/ki from the hands and eyes you first imagine it. Pick an image such as beams extending outward from your hands. Later you'll see that wherever your mind goes, directed by your eyes, the chi will flow.

I wonder if the color and intensity doesn't change moment to moment. One time, at a ki workshop sensei turned the lights off. One person closed their eyes and moved their hands around in front of them trying to feel the other person extending a beam of chi/ki at a certain point. I extended ki toward my partner and when she moved her hand into its path her palm had an orange light on it. That's really the only time that I had a strong sense of color.
