  • Hi Guys

I was in Acid Gallery when we recorded Dance Round the Maypole with Roy who wrote it, in the CBS Studios. The band consisted of myself Ian Jansen, Vic Elmes and Mike Blakely, Mike Smith was the recording manager.

As you can hear Roy joined in for the main riff making it a very talked about

  • Yeah. Without The Beatles there will never been artist like Roy Wood and Jeff Lynne. Like the Move and the Idle Race.

Without plagiarism. How did they really do that ? This was about Blackberry Way I like very much

  • An amzing song Ian! Like "Bengerman" I've also heard this on SOTS on Radio2 (twice within three years). Don't recall it in '69 though. Would I be right in thinking that you werein the Outer Limits line-up that recorded the terrific "Just One More Chance" in'67 - that particular song has stuck with me all these years, and again thanks to Brian Matthew I've got it on tape, although I know what record label to look out for in my search! Thanks Ian for sharing song and memories with us all.

  • The Move!

  • They sound a little like the Sweet

  • Fantastic track. I first heard this a few years back on Brian Matthews 'Sounds Of The Sixties' radio show - what an education he has been!

  • Hi Gary

Vic Elmes sung the main verse, Roy after copius amounts of vodka joined in the the main riff. I'm not sure who mastered it, Mike Smith or Roy, I,ve a sneaking suspicion it must have been Roy. If I remember rightly Jeff Lynne was at the session and also provided backing vocals.

We also released tracks under the name of "The Epics" with Pye, recording manager Tony Hatch.

Just How Wrong Can You Be

    Theres Just No Pleasing You

    Travelling Circus Ugh !!!!

  • OK, I saw your name now. Oops!

  • Very cool. It was obviously Roy singing on the choruses? So who sings lead on the verses? Did you gys record anything else, and what's your name anyway? Thanks for the info!!

  • ps

My wife after throwing out all my old records, in a period of nostalgia when she wanted to put all my old records in a frame it cost me nearly a bloody £ 100 to buy this one off the internet !!
