This is the general knowledge section, and also the part where John Humphrys gets to ask about 'graphic novels' and be regaled with tales of metatextuality and villains made of sponge. I've left in the final scores rundown, so you can see whether choosing "The Sandman Graphic Novels of Neil Gaiman" as your specialist subject is a winning strategy or not.

There's still a perception amongst certain people that anything comic related cannot be classed as intellectual in the same way that a novel can be. Those that have read Sandman, Watchmen, and so on, know differently, but it's merely one group's hangup.

The whole idea behind art is to share concepts and ideas through a medium that is surprising and new. So why would anyone think comic books couldn't be artistic? They are contradicting the very essence of artistry.

    Idiots!

"But they're still comics" Berk, Ah I'm being mean, It would be interesting to give him a copy of say Palestine, Maus, Acme Novelty Library,

    Watchmen, From Hell,

Of course he'd probably look at them and say something like "These give me a headache" or "How exactly am I supposed to read this?

I grew up with The Beano,

    This is completely beyond me."

Thanks for the gracious reply. Obviously JH knows nowt about comics. The specialist subject was arguably one of the most brilliant comics published so far! Cheers.
