I was giving cheek, of course we're both right. Just, one of us is more right. Good answer!

  • @FungusMossGnosis Well, the best way to answer is to say that I'm not judging the entire work, but merely the sequence as presented. There's enough presented in this 2-minute-plus bit of film for me to reach an opinion on it. Taken out of context, it might seem bad, but might actually be a snippet from a wonderful film.

[I realize I'm replying to a 2 y/o comment, but...] Yes & yes to your rhetorical question. It's not entirely proper or sophisticated to judge a work by a tiny, fragmental presentation of it.

Would you judge a painting by a closeup of it printed on a postcard?

Would you judge a sculpture based on a postage stamp picture of it?

Would you judge a song based on a 25 second snippet you heard on TV?

Would you judge a man based on a severed extremity?...

    Well?!?

  • Would it be prosaic or square or uncool to say that this sequence is not funny? Having said that it's unfunny, would it then be offensive to say that it is inept, stupid, lacking in cinematic imagination, taste, wit, or any of the other qualities that motivate us to fork over our money?

  • i'm not so smart. i had to look up the kipper kids and the date of this movie. i am just wondering if this was an influence on them. this almost looked like some modern day spoof of the early 60's. turns out it was an early 60's spoof of the early 60's. i'm always fascinated by the fact that "nothing is new".

  • Duh??? Wow, you're smart. Thanks for telling us. We just had no idea.

  • this is considerably pre- kipper kids.

  • The Kipper Kids do this stuff so much better.
