The belief of Studio 1:1 is that good community design requires a deeper consideration of the unique history demographics and community structure of a neighborhood by the designers. Studio 1:1 is specifically focused on including the voice of the individuals within the community in the design process. The architect becomes an instrument within the design process and not the author, while the community members voices gain a greater resonance. Through the use of ethnographic research and interaction with community members, studio 1 to 1 is able to better understand community complexities to design specific solutions for residents needs.
