When Stacy Markins first child was born 13 years ago, Markin and her husband, Murray, were told that their precious daughter, Shayna Bracha, was born with microcephaly, a neurological condition in which the heads circumference is abnormally small for the childs age and gender. It was explained to them that Shayna would never talk, walk or even identify them as Mom and Dad. Today, with the assistance of Torontos Zareinu Educational Centre supported by UJA Federation the Markins remarkable daughter now smiles, plays with her siblings and routinely shouts Mama! when Stacey enters the room.
