  • Does it matter so much?

    (the man and women speech?)

Because im all for easy stuff, so when I see a word that has a relaxed "version" and an uncomfortable "version" I'll go with the relaxed one. (except of course when I have to be polite or sound like a girl)

(ex. sugoi? I'd rather say sugee. Sounds easier and comfortable~~<3)

    So does it really matter?

  • not to sound mean, but the only men who use womens speech are gay men in japan. not that there is anything wrong with that, but ummm...if your not gay do you want to sound that way?

  • Huh? Wait no what?

I meant the other way around.

    Im a girl lol.

Maybe I didnt explain it right?

    lol

  • haha whoooops. yeah you can use guy speech you might be called a ton boy though or thought of as a tough girl.

  • great video, the book tips were really nice to hear about I'm going to have to check some of those out just as a small study because my school doesn't offer Japanese sadly.

Here is a question ^^ So I am thinking job wise here, what are some jobs that Gaijin can get besides teaching english or construction or something? What are some of the options?

If you could answer that I would be really grateful, Thanks!

  • thats good you will make the effort to do your own self study. i wish i had studied loads more before i got out here.

as for jobs pretty much you are limited to teaching english. unless you are fluent in japanese. even construction work is not an option. pretty much you are only being allowed to stay here if you are filling a void in the work force that cannot be filled by japanese people. remember this little island is packed like a sardine can.

  • I noticed that Rossetta Stone, (the way im learning japanese, besides anime) uses female voices, will that make me seem gay?

  • I Started learning japanese when i was 12, so im good ;D

  • @arivas713

hahaha I can feel your happiness just by reading your comment :p

  • A foreigner can teach english in Japan despite of not being a teacher?

  • i agree, the best books are probably written by the native speakers but, can they translate as well as a westerner . They both, westerner and natives are pretty much meeting each other half -way. You said "japanese for busy people" and i actually just checked they exact one out from the library, so i think im on the right track if i picked out a book that i thought was good and u back me up on it.

  • !HOLY SMOKES I HAVE THAT BOOK!

  • what are your thoughts on the latest Rosetta Stone program do you think it's accurate ? and how many different dialects are there you said that Japanese from Tokyo is different from Osaka

  • @unrested im in highschool planning on moving to japan for a few years to study the langauge and style (im going to be a fashion designer) after i graduate so im starting to learn the langauge now. Theres this game for DS called "My Japanese Coach" thats suppose to teach you to speak, write, and read japanese. Do you think this would work or be too formal or just plain nonsense?

  • hmmm I know there is a difference between how Women and Men speak Japanese. However, could you also explain the differences between Osaka and Tokyo Japanese? Is the speech between the two so drastically different?
