Great thanks go to my Mum for taking this and two others.

Found in the Lakeside Toilet ladies, are some low level Shire Lynx's, this is one of them.
The cistern appears to have what looks like it's original lid, handle is probably replaced though.

On this shot you can see the base of the toilet, it's like Art Deco, like the other Doulton bowls but this one is slightly different.

Flush is nice sounding from what I heard at the start, sadly bit too much background sound from the dryer.

  • Whats all that banging sound?

  • From the sounds of the pipe hissing, just people banging the taps to get them to turn on, and cubicles doors and things I'd think.

  • Gosh, never seen this cistern before. I thought it was a Macdee Rhino at first.

I was very surprised when armitageshires below stated it was a Fordham Sprite, because the Fordham Sprites I've seen are the slim ones with the inner sides caved in. Amazing how it's evolved into something very different now!

A very nice cistern, however not too keen on the lid and the Fordham lever.

  • great toilet !!!

  • That's because it IS a Fordham Sprite! :)

These date from around the 1960s (as does the Shires Lynx) and are still being produced today under Derwent along with the Flushpanel and Elan.

Admittedly it was my fault for telling James it was a Shires Lynx when I saw it from outside. Though I was right about the Royal Doulton bowl! :p

  • the same handle as a fordham sprite !!

  • I really like the black cistern on this, reminds me a couple of years back at a pub in devon it had a black cistern, that was low like this one, which you only normally see in this colour on high ones.
