The Camas Papermakers defense was on display and in full glory Saturday night at Doc Harris Stadium. Aided by short fields and a couple of defense scores, the #5 ranked Papermakers beat #6 Meadowdale 40-0 to advance to the 3A Semifinals. LB Anthony Fallin made the games first big play when he picked up a fumble and ran it back 54 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter to give Camas an early 7-0 lead. Later in the second quarter Fallin recovered another fumble, this one set up Camas with a short field that led to a 13 yard Zack Marshall touchdown run and a 14-0 lead. Marsahll ran for 81 yards and the one score on 23 carries in the game versus the tough Mavs defense. After yet another Camas fumble recovery, this one by ??, QB Tony Gennaro hit WR Jonathan Warner in the end zone from 25 yards out for the quick score and 21-0 Camas lead. The Papermakers took the three score lead into the break after 4 first half takeaways. Gennaro opened the second half with a 16 yard touchdown to TE John Norcorss, his second of three passing scores in the game, giving Camas what then looked like an insurmountable 28-0 lead. On the next drive, the Papermakers defense struck again when John Ashford sacked Mavs QB Brian Marty in the end zone for a safety and a 30-0 Camas lead. Marsahll ran back the free kick across the 50 when on the next play, Gennaro hit Warner for a second touchdown, this one from 34 yards out and the nail was hammered firmly in the coffin with a 37-0 Camas 3rd quarter lead. Camas was able to officially send the game to a running clock when John Payne recovered a muffed punt inside the Mavs 20, which set up a 25 yard Roldan Alcobendas Field Goal and a 40-0 Camas lead with 4:23 remaining in the game. Gennaro finished the game with 189 yards passing and 3 touchdowns while Warner caught just 3 passes but had 89 yards and 2 touchdowns. Camas held the Mavs to just 73 rushing yards and 156 total yards while pitching their second post season shutout.
