"Win or lose the wager, I cannot lose the game." Glenda Jackson, thank you for being Elizabeth!

This is by far the best Elizabeth Tudor ever. I mean, Glenda's Elizabeth is probably even a better Elizabeth than the actual Elizabeth.

@gapeachjessica I think she wanted her fears allayed; that Mary was a capable and competant ruler who ruled with intelligence, not with passion. If Mary married Dudley, there would be peace between the two realms and the two religions. But Mary proved Elizabeth right in every way.

elizabeth tudor, born september 7:
the day of success seekers.
"novels could be written about sept 7 people and their never-ending pursuit of personal success...those born on this day have a one track mind when it comes to following their plans and if necessary battering their competitors, rivals, or detractors into submission. september 7 people do not make pleasant enemies, both because their wish to annihilate is so pronounced and their inclination to grant mercy doubtful."

May the blood of the Highlander cry out for revenge, especially from the tyranny of Lowlanders of all Politics and Religions. R.I.P. brave and loyal troops. Your way of life was exterminated for the sake of which of Mary, Queen of Scot's ancestor sat on the British Throne. Very sad.

At Culloden it was the descendents of James VI/I that faced each other at Culloden Moor, namely Bonnie Prince Charlie, Jacobite, acting on behalf of his Father, James VII/II, who himself was the Great Great Grandson of Mary Queen of Scots verses the Prince William, Hanoverian, acting on behalf of his Father George II, who himself was the Great Great Great Grandson of Mary Queen of Scots. So two descendents of Stuarts fighting over the Scottish and English Crown. And the Highlanders suffered

@Abbeysums As a patriotic Scot, it pains me to say this. Mary Stewart was a fool. The real genius was Elizabeth Tudor. I think England and Scotland would have been better off today if Elizabeth Tudor had legitimate heirs to rule/reign over England Wales and Ireland, whilst Mary Stewart would die barren with no heir. After Mary Queen of Scots, the Stewarts/Stuarts were a disaster for Scotland, and for that matter, England and Ireland too. At Culloden it was the descendents of James VI/I that...

@gapeachjessica True. She wanted her to marry Leicester.
I love this movie, but this part in particular is very inaccurate. Elizabeth most certainly did NOT want Mary to marry Darnley. He was a Catholic.
