A short but excellent trek for those with limited time yet a desire to see the high mountains and Tibetan culture. Although close to Kathmandu, the bus ride is a full day of hell. Within two days you can be above the treeline and into remote villages. There is also a 5,000m trekking peak that is a good starter.
@mycal64 please also see my previous message.
eg you can trek from ktm to chisapani all the way to gosainkunda and then to langtand and back to dhunche for bus,.which will b at least 10 days or so.Or you can choose to go on to helambu from langtang crossing the Ganga La pass and and come down to Melamchi for bus or even walk one more day to kathmandu...
langtang has more options....
the ganga la pass is hard,.. not because of ht or anything ..but becasue it is so remote and so devoid of people

@mycal64
Well it depends on the time you have. Annapurna ckt is longer one. IT takes 22 or so days.You have to cross Thorang La pass (5600 Mtrs). It has good facilites and hotels .Sometimes you kinda get a artificial kindof feeling, but the place itself is gorgeous. Langang in the other hand is much more natural and old fashioned and full of adventiure. One might argue that it is not as beautiful but is certainly more virgin. And based on the time u have u cn do various types of trips to langan

Looks great! I'm tossing up between Langtang and Annapurna. Any suggestions?
