Jazzy Chord Progression 6-2-7-3maj - Jill Scott-esque Eb minor/Gb Major

Gb =1
Variatons of this progressions feature in "He loves me" by Jill Scott"

The Bass causes me a problem as when it comes to chord seven, the 1-5-8 bassline contains a (flat 5) when played as a diatonic occurance.

Conversations I've had and when listening to the track "He loves me" shows that the bass should play (perfect 5th) during the chord 7. My ear still needs to adjust so I've recorded this with the (flat 5).

  • Hey, do you only post jazzy, hip hop progressions?

Do have any harmonious progressions, as in other genres?

  • @MarrickFait Hi, I have a playlist on chord progressions on my channel. Some of them are what I would call pop/rock but I mostly present them with a hip-hop feel.

    Peace!

  • Love the track, can you tell me what key its in? I think it'd be nice if you included that in your future videos, just to give people an idea what they key is. Thanks for sharing, this is a hella dope track

  • @fenix9885 Hi, it's in Eb! I know, an oversight on my part!

Thanks for the Feedback. I'll stick it in the title.

  • Nice tutorial, and nice sounding chords, but this progression is best described as being in Ebm: i - iv - ii - V7.

  • The progression that starts at 1:26 is the one from Jill Scotts song "He Loves Me (Lyzel in E Flat)". Look it up if ya'll don't know it. Great song...

  • @mechwarreir2...yea I would call these "soulful chords". Not really jazzy. Very nice nonetheless.

  • Very easy to follow, thank you for inspiring me!!!!

  • Ya @musiqueprof This is great, but I was about to ask if the Eb was supposed to be m

  • Why would you want to here anything else????

  • Doesn't really sound jazzy, but I love the progression :)

  • Chords were broken down real good. Sounds good!

  • I read the description... I can see where you're coming from. I would have played a b5 in the bass as well. Always weirds me out when the bass fifth isn't diatonic to the fifth being played in the chord. Cool stuff though. I like the progression. Kinda like a I IV II V if the "VI" were considered the minor root. Last two chords are diatonic to harmonic minor, but I'm sure you knew that. Nice vid.
