@gibbsies You're probably right, I'd assume fredrik would play what he hears rather than think about it, but he's a smart guy, I'll bet he knows exactly what it is he's actually playing!

@AdamDallas I didn't think he actually used scales, like I know that the notes will fit into particular scales but I think he just plays what he feels.

@jumatm UFO scale?? Hahah, i've never heard of that. Granted I was wrong about this, it mainly follows a mixture of wholetone and lydian dominant (4th mode of the melodic minor), but Fredrik uses a lot of whole/half diminished. Check out Zeta 1 Reticuli .
Only reason I could think of something being called UFO or Fredrik scale is because fans don't know what they're actually called and make up names for them..

Hey guys! Thanks for all your kind comments! Of course I'm the luckiest man walking the face of this world! This was about 10-13 years ago and Meshuggah weren't that famous back then. I found his number in the phone book so I rang him and he was the coolest dude ever! I really want to thank you, Fredrik, for "giving" me my own little solo meant only for my song. That's bad-ass!
