Band: Cake
Album: B-Sides and Rarities
Song: War Pigs
Lyrics: Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcers of death's construction
In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds
Oh lord, yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight
They leave that role to the poor
Yeah
Time will tell them they have power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating like people just like pawns in chess
Wait until that judgment day comes
yeah!
(Hey!)
(Hey!)
(Hey!)
(Hey!)

Now in darkness world stops turning
As you hear the bodies burning
No more war pigs have the power
And as god has struck the hour
They have judgment
god is calling
On their knees the war pigs crawling
Making mercies for their sins
Satan laughing spreads his wings
Oh lord, yeah!

  • This just reminds me of Girl Talk.

  • This is actually pretty good but compared it sucks compared to Sabbath.

  • Shitty shit.

  • yeah, lol, anything cake is better. ANYTHING

  • @balditor dude....its a cover! of course its not their own music! i for one think they rocked this song!

  • I actually prefer this to the Black Sabbath's original version. I'm not much for heavy metal, and I like that Cake took a heavy metal tune and turned into a groovy funk song.

  • I think I would like this better if I liked Black Sabbath.

  • @syuvial Very well said! And I would add: Fourth, the musicians doing covers show where they're coming from.

  • @balditor I disagree. A lot of very talented musicians spend time doing covers, and for a lot of reasons. (northern kings, me first and the gimme gimme's in particular are fantastic)

First of all its a service to fans, showing a new take on an older song can be very refreshing.

Secondly, Its a good way to learn new techniques and styles by analyzing songs that have already been used.

    Third, its FUN.

So calling it a waste of time isnt quite right regardless of whether you enjoy the song.

  • Awesome!
