  • Thank you for this wonderful clip. Madeira gives a strong performance, with well deserved applause. She died at an early age (54), and was a committed artist.

  • Bravi tutti! Love Bergonzi.

  • I saw Madeira in a concert in the 1960s. She was slim and beautiful and

    sexy. Sang Carmen's first aria.

She only made a couple of studio recordings. You can find live

performances on "The Opera Lovers" site.

Tns 4 the post of 2 great singers.

  • Madeira possessed a unique voice and a was a beautiful woman

  • beautiful!

  • Onegin-I would love to hear these two singing "Ai nostri monti" from the last act.Bergonzi was in his prime and perhaps had the best vocal line of any Verdi tenor of the 20th century. Jean Madeira is a revelation to me.Yes, these two singing one of the great parent, child, Verdi duets would be something special.I hope Carlo Bergonzi looks into You Tube,I am sure he would love this. How lucky for all those in the theatre in Atalanta 50 years ago.

  • As dramatic as I have heard this passage. Absolutely terrific.Just maybe Azucena is a role for a contralto.Although Trovatore is really not even middle period Verdi but the best in style of his early works,if you like a better version of Ernani. This performance had the dramatic intensity of late Verdi, more like Otello.I cant thank you enough onegin.

  • Madeira was always one of my favorites! Thank you! Left us way too soon: God Bless you Jean:

  • Wonderful from both of them but the surprise is Cleva, he for once gives a really dramatic view of this score.
