i take it the 83bhp is from your SPi 1.1 and not an 8v 1242cc? with tweaking that 1.1 ought to be good for a solid 100bhp but not much extra torque. youd get wya more than 83bhp if that was 1242cc - it runs 75bhp in standard MPi form. the 1242 with 16v runs 86bhp standard so you easily get to around 120bhp from the 8v and 130 from the 16v.

so sluggish (3 years old) i couldn't wait to get back in my Alfa Twincam it goes like
a scalded cat and howls like a metallic werewolf..
When you mention Horsepower dont forget weight..Power to weight ratio..

I never claimed my cinq to be a pocket rocket. It was a cost effective summer project with the objective to make a reliable daily driver that could keep up with modern daily traffic.
Ive had my cinqy now for 5 years and it has NEVER gone wrong. In the spirit of beetles, minis and 2cvs its a simple car that can be enjoyed at legal speeds with just that little bit extra pep.
It also still does 45mpg which is a bonus . What do you drive?
