Globally, tuna stocks are heavily over fished. But the fishermen in the Maldives - catching their skipjack by pole and line - are giving their skipjack tuna a brighter future.

  • using of big net, fish sonar or any fish attractive divices, should not tolerated..

  • if you want to use the rationale that humans are smarter and are therefore better, then you need to also accept that even if we are built to eat meat - we also have the ability to bypass our innate tendencies and use our 'intelligence' to help save other creatures from reaching the brink of extinction as a result of our own greed/stupidity/over-fishing/whatever you want to call it.

  • You know ppl can't stop eating fish. or you can? Except you're vegetarian.

  • ottacan mabey you should just stay in that fukn can you braindead canadian eh and for you oneannoyedvegan your still livin in the dark you dont eat any protien or good food your bodys needs just vegan bird-rabit food you should change your name to ONEDUMBFUKR this is the real world get over your lil dream

  • you have to understand that people have to do what they can to survive

not everyone can afford the luxury of the western lifestyle

besides, this IS a lot better than the commercial fishing boats

  • carnivores have all teeth sharp and pointy. they dont need flat teeth for grinding. all what they do is chop the meat into little pieces, swallow and their strong gastric acid will do the rest. meat is digested far more easily than plants. thats why herbivores chew a lot.

we are omnivores. the only abundant natural source of vitamin B12 is meat. and we have an amazing thinking ability and decide what to eat. if we go vegan, we can make B12 supplements.

  • Hahaha - good point - I agree with you 'OneAnnoyedVegan', the tuna dying on the bottom of the boat haven't got a brighter future! I find it bewildering that Green''peace'' believe that 'sustainable use of wildlife' i.e. killing wild animals is ethical or ''peaceful''. Bloody hell, Greenpeace has gone seriously downhill since it's heydays in the 1970's.

  • Now I understand what you wanted to say and I agree with you! Buy local vegetables and fruits it's better like eat the meat of a butcher who's said to have good meat. But eat just local vegetables and fruits it's still better =)

  • A brighter future? How about not eating them? That would be a brighter future. Come on greenpeace!!!

  • yes and they are given growth hormones as well in many!, theres no long term study into how harmful these are to humans! i fish north the sea a few times a year from a boat with a rod, taking only a few fish to feed members of my family, i am vegan as well! My commitment to my family goes hand in hand with my principles, i am providing a small amount of local fresh food to help people out who have supported me over the years! we can think about how those principles apply to the wider world yes?
