"Habit is one of the antidotes to inattention," says ADHD expert Dr. Jeff Sosne in this clip from his talk "ADHD & the Attentive Mind," given at Yoga Calm's inaugural Children's Wellness Conference in June 2010. Dr. Sosne also describes five factors that can undermine attention and how to counter them. His full presentation - as well as those of all other conference presenters - is available on DVD through the Yoga Calm Store: http://www.yogacalm.org/Store.asp

  • Yes, and these same skills and ideas are good for ALL kids, not just those with ADHD weaknesses. We really like Dr. Sosne's comprehensive behavioral/cognitive approach.

  • This seems like an idea students with ADHD would like to work on because of it's simplicity as well as when it's phrased as the same way they would learn any other habit, like remembering to brush their teeth before bed. I also liked what he said about breakfast either being too light or to carb. heavy. I've seen both ends of that spectrum as a teacher.
