  • Yes, it is in severe cases used to treat hirsutism. The secondary effect of Spironolactone is to block the peripheral effects of androgens- by blocking the enzymes producing them, increasing the levels of proteins that binds them and increasing their excretion in urine. However, if you are male and suffering from pulmonary edema due to heart failure, muscle mass is not your primary concern. Breathing is.

  • @akuma4u It can cause atrophy of the testicles and gynecomastia. So, yes, it does have anti-androgenic effects.

  • Avoiding salt substitutes? So one should avoid salt?

  • is it a bad idea for men to take this drug? wouldnt it kill off your testosterone/androgens and make u lose your muscle mass and male sexual charateristics?
