@luxmtzion I did write to them. As expected, they fobbed me off. I am over £5000 out of pocket due to RE/MAX, and my financial affairs are now being dealt with by a debt management agent. As previously stated, RE/MAX are to blame for my situation and they refused to help me!

@Stemax1960 - Is it really wise to judge all RE/MAX offices by one bad experience? RE/MAX is the #1 recognized brand in real estate. I doubt that this would be the case if the entire company were a "cowboy outfit" as you state. If you want to make a complaint you should call RE/MAX International directly so that they can be aware of the issue regardless that the office in question closed. CALL: 800-525-7452. Please, don't let your bitterness toward one taint your opinion of the rest.

I was unfortunate enough to private rent a house through the Carlisle, Cumbria, UK RE/MAX office. It was a 6 month assured shorthold tenancy agreement. I needed a reference to get another property. The person(?) who ran that office was Billy Cuntliffe. He deliberately gave me a crap reference despite knowing that the problem lay with my ex partner, and not with me. The fact that they closed the Carlisle office and didn't get their mail redirected shows what a cowboy outfit RE/MAX really are.
