@grindhousepornking Ya she is somewhat unpredictable, someday's, its ok then other it feels like it added a 100 more horsepower... its scary... that why people always would get hurt on it.

I rode Venom today, at this place called " Roeher flats" east of newhall CA, nasty riding area , small tight trails, jagged rocky, not ideal... total shit, Plus I was hanging on for dear life most of the time, I could not get venom out of 3rd gear, Like trying to ride a balistic missile...

I have a 490L, and I love it. Anytime I start feeling competent on more modern bikes, it is good to go back to the 490 to be humbled. It is not very tolerant of rider errors, and it will correct the rider for making mistakes, often brutally and always quickly.

I jokingly say the bike is great at everything except stopping and turning.

I disagree about the unpredictable nature of the power delivery though. I think it can be summed up in one word: "violent"

nah i owned one in 92-93 raced at bmc pro it was naff to ride powerband was sudden and died out quick i blew cylinder twice so threw it in the gutter and got a kx 250

i had a 91 kx500 iv heard of the yz490 but never gotten the chance to ride one,unlike the cr500 and kx the yz490 is even harder to find i browse craigslist looking for them. nice bike!
