A time-lapsed sketch of Drew Barrymore, created by one of the Mirasol Twins, Miguel Mirasol (14 years old). This was drawn in around 3 hours in Art class using a 5mm mechanical pencil. This "grid" technique is perfect for making easy and accurate portraits. Please.. no "that's cheating!" criticisms.. again, this was art class. I was REQUIRED to follow this method, and so i did.

Medium: pencil
Song: "Summer Love" - Justin Timberlake

  • ok we know the twins own but whos the one who makes the stop motions?

  • both of us make stop motions; both of us like to draw

  • wow...that was amazing....especially for your age.

Just a pointer...while you are working, constantly look at your drawings through a mirror. You will see all the flaws in the reflection.

  • well, no art is perfect. You always somehow find things you want to add on to your artwork after you 'finished.'

In this case, i didn't have the time to edit this drawing because this was during art class at school.

  • ok i need to know your age becuz this is full on professional stuff! plz ansa

    "Someone Drew Barrymore"

  • Well done :)

  • Really great! The gird is an awesome tool for the artist. In fact most artists use it. They don't use it all the time but they use it for some things. Most artists the use grids can also free hand. The grid is great to get proportions exactly right. Not cheating. Cheating would be taking some tracing paper and tracing the entire picture and tracing the blocks of shade. The grid helps train the eye. The grid does nothing but help one learn to see shapes for what they are.

  • @magnum44biotch I thought I was the only one that did that! Nice to know I am not crazy.

  • DUDE! Good job your an amazing artist!

  • By the way, beautiful drawing!

  • There is nothing wrong with using a grid. Many experienced artist use them all the time.
