How low have we fallen? I listen to both... there should never be a discussion whats better punk or metal... neither of them is mainstream and punks rock! Sure, technicaly punk is on a (much) lower level but that was sort of the point when it all began... "Music is for everybody" They even used to play on stolen instruments by learning everything themselves.

get this, NO punk bands play in drop D, but most ALL metal bands DO(some drop C).

also, punk isn't about what you play its the message you want to put across. also, punks dont give a shit what you think so no need to bother with all this negativity

shredding is lame. its just showing off. (usually) there is no feeling to the solos in death or thrash metal becuase they just wanna play fast and show that they can jack off and play the guitar at the same time.

@kiisfriend nirvana was a punk rock band. they used drop d and drop c tuning. listen to 'negative creep' for instance. Punk Rock = NO rules. Metal = plenty of rules.

es una guerra innecesaria, yo toco en una banda de punk rock, thrash metal, y algo de speed metal, escucho todo tipo de metal y punk, y puedo decir con certeza que de no ser ppur el punk rock, el metal no seria lo mismo, de hecho la segunda ola del heavy metal britanico surgio por que el punk rock empezo a opacar a las primeras bandas de metal, y para que el movimiento no muriera empezaron a innovar con un estilo mas rapido y pesado, ademas el cuero y la ropa sado fue priemero punk luego metal

@eclipselight HELL YEAH MAN! You are so fucking right. Finally, an intelligent individual who knows his music lore. I agree, both are amazing, yes they both have there faults and even bands that suck, but as a whole they are amazing, pure, and unrestricteed by the commercialization of modern music... well at least most of the bands in either genre. Again, they both have their faults (ie - Green Day and Metallica).
