Overview: Thanks to outstanding advances in battlefield medical procedures and care, many severely wounded veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are able to survive devastating injuries. The byproduct of these advances, however, is that the United States has more injured and disabled veterans returning home than ever before. This video above tells the story of how the business aviation industry and community can help give back to these wounded heroes at an annual inspirational event each June in Sugar Land, Texas -- a suburb of Houston -- called Impact a Hero Weekend.

Attending the event, however, is difficult for many veterans who cannot travel via the normal commercial process because their injuries are so severe. For veterans with large amounts of shrapnel still in their bodies, severe burns, metal prosthetics, and post-traumatic stress disorder, getting through a security screening can be challenging and embarrassing. That's where business aviation can make a difference.
