  • rumour has it that esther phillips was due to sing this and didnt turn up george was in the studio as session and ended up signing it dunno if its true may be a myth??

  • @marcmoyse Would love to have heard Esther Phillips singing this...could you imagine?

  • crackin' wee shuffller from back then... loved dancin' to this!!!

  • @soulbrother61 I'm with you there Jim :)

  • Why wasn't this ever included in any of George's CTI collections?!?

  • Not sure mate. It's the flip of "My Latin Brother" which definately is. Perhaps they thought it was a bit gimmicky! Still a little gem all the same eh.

  • Is there a stereo version?

Bought this as a 45 and still love it

  • Wow, this is interesting; not one of the typical George Benson songs you hear very often!

  • 18yrs old and totally hooked "samanthas" and "cleethorpes2 played by my best mate "THE MIGHTY BUB"

  • this track always had that edwin starr feel about it....

  • @HowieP It was included on a (UK only?) CTI multi-artist compilation in 1976 called "The Sound Of Things To Come", along with Esther Phillips - "What A Difference A Day Makes", Lalo Schiffrin "Jaws", Hubert Laws "The Chicago Theme" etc., the above mentioned being big spins @Blackpool Mecca at the time.

  • Yeah, and one of the few vocal tracks from Benson during his CTI period. Other ones includes his cover of "Hold On, I'm Coming" from the Space album (but recorded during the Good King Bad sessions) and the unforgettable rendition of "Summertime" from the Carnegie Hall album.
