when i purchased this lp, it was cuz of 'urrrhgh a music war' and the 'puppet' vid. brilliant song. short. succinct. minimal chords, a proper gtr run which spoke of the lean, reaganistic / thatcherality of the times. there was literally the same atmos as of the '63 kennedy era of who will drop a bomb first. scary, sparse, angered times. bewilderment. nihilism. fuck it. all. gonna die anyway. remember?

the first album is fucking brilliant
what a band

fucking great!!

This song sounds like Television, a big influence on Echo & The Bunnymen!

Had my mp3 and what I thought was this kicked in and then it turned out to be the Go-Betweens. Check out In the core of a flame by them, it's mad how similar it sounds.

Something about the Smiths and Echo that make being depressed such a wonderful thing.

@thenewfella1994 .......I find myself listening more to Echo nowadays

A completely excellent band, once heard, never forgotten.

I think that this was their best song. The guitar riff always memorized me and still does..........................

Great song- the first four albums for me are as good as anything ever produced in music

the mood is somber & empty! the whole atmosphere & vibe of the record is melancholic. a definite downer. but the music & lyrics is of raw intensity. genius!
