That was totally an RC, a C-5 could'nt fly inverted like that. It might be able to perform a barrel roll (though unlikely) but it is not possible for it to fly inverted like that, the plane would stall and subsequintly spin.
@KennethMixson Actually you would only need to maintain 0.5 G in order to keep the fuel on the pick ups. That is the bare minimum for positive G flying.
Parked on the ramp the plane is at 1G. You achieve weightlessness at 0g which can happen in a dive or other extreme maneuver. I saw a C-5 that over G'ed on a landing one time and they pretty much took every panel off the plane checking it over. I believe it pegged over 3 G's on touchdown. The Air Force preaches energy management to airlift pilots not aerobatics.
to KennethMixson, having grown up on a base w/ the Galaxy, I've seen what it can do. The ONLY way that fat sumbitch can gain 1G would be JATO. Lots of JATO.
The fuel pickups for the C-5 Galaxy need fuel in the bottom of the tank to work. Inverted, The engines would flame out unless you could keep at least 1G on the plane. Tex Johnson did a barrel roll in a 707 and kept 1G on the plane so the engines would still have fuel. An aileron roll would have starved the engines.
A very nice RC model. Wish I had one of my own. If it didn't go Inverted I don't think anyone could tell it was a RC. I really thought it was real up until the 00:10 mark.
it's nearly impossible to roll a c-5 and it would not be allowed by the FAA anyway...and you can just tell its a RC because a C-5 couldnt roll that fast in real life
Not a real C-5. even if it was possible, the AF wouldn't allow it.
