During the second World War, many Filipino women have suffered and were brutally abused by the Imperial Japanese soldiers. Some died while some lived to tell the horrifying story. Tomasa Salinog was one of them.
Tomasa Salinog, or more commonly known as Lola Masing, was the only comfort woman from Panay island who joined the other Filipino comfort women to file a class suit against Japan in the 1990s. The Asian Women's Fund offered money as payment for moral damages and while the others gladly accepted, Lola Masing refused the offer. She insisted that an apology and acknowledgment for the war crimes by the Japanese government be done. For the Antiqueños, Lola Masing became the epitome of dignity despite poverty.
The Datu Lubay Center, Inc. presents this one-of-a-kind tribute not only for Lola Masing but for all women that have been victims of the the brutalities of the second World War.
